Quickies
One thing that is so synonymous about the baths is all of the quickie sex that takes place on an hourly basis. My personal feeling is that if you are at the baths and you notice a cute guy, he notices you, why not go up to a room and enjoy each others time. Well, many guys have told me they like quickies, because it is just that, quick and to the point. There is no intimacy, no getting to know the other person, no emotional bonding. Guys would rather save those feelings of pure lovemaking with someone they truly care for. That is one reason why many guys do not purchase a room when they visit the baths. By getting a room, you are preparing for the possibility of sharing some quality time with another person. Since most guys only want to get off at the baths, getting a locker makes the most sense. If you are in the middle of a quickie encounter, you have a good excuse why you cannot continue your sexual interlude. You have no room. That is a great way to stop things from progressing any further. Remember that is how the baths operate: quick and easy sex. No names are known, no contact information is exchanged, and you do not have to be polite trying to get to know the other person. Each of you just views the other person as an object; for the pure enjoyment of each other's body so both of you can get off. 
In fact, many guys have told me that they do not even kiss other guys they may encounter at the baths. Oral sex - no problem; Anal – pass the lube; But kissing – NO WAY! you would think it would be the other way around. I have personally always equated oral sex as such a personal, intimate, bonding experience between two people who truly care for one another. Therefore, quickie sex becomes a way to get-off, in between that never-ending quest to find Mr. Right. So where do you go to fulfill your sexual cravings with a quickie? Why the baths of course. At the baths you have so many guys just looking for a fast blowjob or f**k. They do not seem to care where it takes place, as long as it is quick and to the point. One time I saw this businessman come in, all dressed to the nines. He took his clothes off, f***ked someone in their room, showered, dressed and left. All in 20 minutes! You would think that when a guy enters the baths with six hours to spare, he would have all the time in the world to spend with a guy he finds hot. Again, it is that intimacy issue. Alas, you know the saying; variety is the spice of life. Now there are a couple of places these quickies can take place in a bathhouse: The wet area (sauna/steam/whirlpool/shower), the porn lounge, and finally the orgy room. 
The Wet AreaThe wet area is a place where men will converge eventually during their travels inside a bathhouse. The wet area usually has a shower area, a whirlpool, a sauna and/or steam room, sink and mirrors, and the toilet. Sometimes the traffic in the wet area is wall-to-wall men, as cruising and looking for the next lay is at its most feverish pitch. Either the two guys wind up there by accident, or one of the guys cruises or follows the other guy into the sauna/steam room. When the two guys are in the sauna/steam room eye contact is first established, to see if there is any interest. If there is interest, one of the guys will start to stroke himself to full erection. Sauna/Steam RoomThese quickies in a sauna/steam room usually last ten to fifteen minutes. Because of the heat inside the sauna/steam room, fresh air is needed to breath. They leave to go continue their liaison elsewhere in the baths. But there are some guys with amazing staying power, and they can go at it in that wet heat for an hour! Staying that long in the sauna/steam room is bound to attract a crowd. If bunches of guys are watching, sometimes other men will join in, to make it a threesome or even a foursome. But what is the etiquette for joining in? It really depends on the situation. If you happen to see two guys getting it on, wait for a signal that you can join in. A wink, nod or even a hand wave will give you an indication. If you see none, that means they do not want or need a third party. Porn LoungeThe porn lounge is sort of like the sauna/steam room. It is the one room where I have seen the wildest action ever taking place. The porn lounge is the one area of the baths that elicits the most quickie sex. If a couple is looking to have a quickie, (and neither man has a room) they usually wind up there to. In the ten years that I have gone to the baths, I have never seen multiple orgies taking place. I might have seen a foursome once or twice, but that was it. The reasons I say it is fiction is that orgies are suppose to be unbridled passion where you throw caution to the wind and just go for it, no matter what the other person looks like. In theory that is what an orgy should be. However, gay men have preferences. For an orgy to work, you have to be attracted to everybody in the group. And that doesn't happen. One person is attracted to only certain people, and another is only attracted to this person, etc. Soon instead of a big 20-person orgy, you have different groups here and there going at it. You may hop from group to group, but it is never a big 20-person group. That is because all 20 people have to be attracted to all 20 people. And unless it is preplanned, that is not possible to have a 20-person orgy by happenstance.
